What’s In A Box?

WINTER BOX

The $10 box contains small portions of local apples, Anjou pears, carrots, cooking onions and mushrooms.  Out of country items are oranges, sweet potato, grape tomatoes, green pepper, English cucumber, tangerines, lemon, spinach and broccoli.

The $15 box contains  larger portions of local apples, Anjou pears, carrots, cooking onions and mushrooms. Out of country items include oranges, sweet potato, grape tomatoes, spinach, green peppers, tangerines, lemons, broccoli.

The $20 box contains more local apples, more Anjou pears, carrots, more cooking onions, and mushrooms.  Out of country items are  sweet potatoes, cauliflower, more oranges, spinach, green peppers, broccoli, lemons, tangerines, grape tomatoes, celery and iceberg lettuce.

SPRING BOX

The $10 bag contains small portions of local apples, asparagus, red pepper, and radishes, English cucumber.  Out of country items are oranges, bananas, mini- carrots, broccoli, green onions, grape tomatoes, zucchini, kiwis.

The $15 box contains – local asparagus, red peppers, radishes and apples, English cucumber.  Out of country items are broccoli, green onions, mini-carrots, grape tomatoes, oranges, zucchini,  bananas, kiwis.

The $20 box contains – more local asparagus and for something NEW green garlic.  Other local items are apples, red peppers, radishes and English cucumber.  Out of country items are broccoli, iceberg lettuce, cauliflower, mini-carrots, green onions, Grape tomatoes, zucchini, oranges, bananas, kiwis.

SUMMER BOX – 100% locally grown within 100 km

All boxes contain corn, zucchini, peppers, field tomatoes, fresh onions, field cucumbers, plums, peaches, Gifford pears, cantaloupe, bunched carrots, broccoli, and mushrooms.

The $20 box also contains an eggplant, iceberg lettuce (for a change from Romaine), more corn, and Swiss chard.

FALL BOX – 100% locally grown within 100 km

The $10 box contains much smaller portions. In your box you have 2 Royal Gala apples, 3 Italian plums, 2 pears, 1 lb. carrots, 1 crown broccoli,  small fresh dug sweet potatoes, 1 red onion, 1 small bunch Swiss chard, 1 small English cucumber, 1 leek, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and 2 potatoes.

The $15 box contains a small winter squash, leaf lettuce, Royal Gala apples, Italian plums, pears, carrots, broccoli, red onions, leeks, Brussels sprouts, mushrooms, carrots, potatoes, English cucumber.

The $20 box contains a larger winter squash, leeks, cauliflower, celery, leaf lettuce, Royal Gala apples, Italian plums, pears, carrots, broccoli, red onions, English cucumber, more Brussels sprouts, potatoes and mushrooms.

It’s really very simple to buy the Halton Fresh Food Box! Just follow these steps.

1. Prepare to make your purchase.

Figure out which box size you want to order. Our Food Box page can help. Find our pick up site most convenient for you (this is where you will pre-order and pre-pay, and pick up your order when it’s ready). Our Pick Up Sites page can help. You can contact us if you can’t figure it out.

2. Pay for your products.

To buy in person, contact your pick up site coordinator to arrange your order and make payment. When you pay, your site coordinator will tell you the date and time to return to pick up your order.

3. On pickup day, go to the site to get up your order.

Our products are packed into boxes that we reuse every month, so you have to bring your own bags to carry your purchases back home. To get an idea how many bags you might need, our Sample Contents page shows the amounts of produce the boxes might contain. When you’re picking up your order, don’t forget to take your copy of our latest newsletter. Check the Pick Up Sites page for day of the month and time of pick up information for your chosen site.

    For some reason I am unable to see pickup dates and times. I am closes to St. Christopher’s church. Do I call there and pre-order? Thanks.
